Groundhog Day Police Car
Greenlight Hollywood
“Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today. The Punxsutawney Police Force are already out and about protecting the peace for all the woodchuck-chuckers as they make their way to town square to celebrate...Groundhog Day!” And they’ve been backed by this wonderful little, die-cast police car from Greenlight Hollywood.
Greenlight really does produce some obscure movie vehicles. Groundhog Day? Sure, it’s one of the best movies ever made, but necessitating collectibles for toy car enthusiasts? (“(Laughing)What a waste of time! I mean...for someone else that would be an incredible waste of time. It’s so bold of you to even choose that. It’s incredible. You must be a very, very strong person.”) Whatever! It’s here, and it’s great!
The car has some great, tiny detailing in the police department crest, so you can always tell what movie it’s from. The rest of the 1980 Chevy Caprice is as well executed as it should be.
They also made the orange pick-up truck that Phil Connors steals along with Groundhog Phil, but since I open my toys, and it would carry no other identifiable markings outside of the packaging, I skipped it for now. Though I shouldn’t wait til tomorrow to pick it up...”What if there is no tomorrow? There wasn’t one today.”
