Ninja Turtle Ghostbusters

Ninja Turtle Ghostbusters
Playmates

Such a strange mash-up considering Turtlemania pretty much killed Ghostbusters' Mass Hysteria in the early 90's, but cool enough considering both share 1984 as their genesis year.  I guess there are no hard feelings between them, as they have also teamed up in the recent IDW comics series...twice so far!  So strap a proton pack on your shell and grab a slice of pizza before jumping into the Ecto-1, dude!  I ain't afraid of no anchovies!

The figures share the same bodies, just with different colored elbow pads.  They also share the same gear: pack and wand, trap, and PKE meter.  The wands are a nice (and better executed) throwback to the old Kenner GB stream gimmick.  The sculpting is great all around, but the packs could use some extra paint detail.

The heads are each unique, with the Turtles personalities matched as best they could to the four Ghostbusters.  It's kinda goofy...and weird to see the hair!  The Winston 'stache on Raph is the most unsettling of the four.  I wish they had included plain Turtle heads, but the execution is still pretty good.

Each Turtle comes with a different GB ghost.  Even though they are hollow, 1/2 representations, the sculpts are decent, the translucent coloring pops, and it's great to get a bad guy with a good guy in the same pack (another great Kenner nod.)

Like the WWE mash-up figures, these are about 6 inches in scale (rather than Playmates 4-5 inch regular turtle lines.)  Another odd choice, but they do fit in nicely with Diamond Select's 7 inch Ghostbusters.

These were Target exclusives that I missed out on last year.  Not one Target in my area stocked these...shocking, right?!  With some time and patience, I scored the whole set loose for less than retail.  Cowabunga!  If you love either property, they are a fun novelty to add to your collection.

Baby Audrey II
Funko Pops - Target Exclusive

Well, I finally got the Target exclusive.  Not at my local store...or another about 45 minutes away...but on Target's website.  It looks great and I am glad to call this collection complete, but I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko.  I hate Target.  I hate Funko...but I love Little Shop of Horrors!

Cruella de Vil’s Roadster

Cruella de Vil’s Roadster
Hot Wheels Screen Time - Mattel

It’s been too long, Hot Wheels!  I was never much of a “car” kid, but I do love me some pop culture rides.  After a long drought with the Screen Time cars, this gem popped up today at a local Walgreens:  Cruella de Vil’s car from 101 Dalmatians.  It’s long, red, and ready to run down some new fur coats!  For a 99 cent car, it’s a good as it needs to be.  I wish HW would put more information on wave on the cardbacks...I will have to look at EBay lots to see what the other 9/10 in this series might be.  After the glut of remainder Halo vehicles and Justice League Batmobiles, I will be excited just to see anything different.

Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider

Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider
DC Universe Classics - Mattel
Ghost Rider movie line - Toy Biz

Red Dead Redemption II is here!  Greatest games of all time...but why, oh why does Rockstar refuse to make action figures based on their properties?!  Call me old fashioned, but I need a 6-inch line of cowboy figures in my life.  I've only got a couple to fill the void, and they've been around for some time now.

Jonah Hex was part of Mattel's DC Universe Classics wave 16 (Bane wave) back in 2010, the same year as the first Red Dead Redemption.  For whatever reason, I skipped most of this wave...big mistake.  Though, I am happy to have picked up a majority of it on Ebay recently at decent prices.  Jonah is a pretty unique figure for this line, as they didn't get to get away with any parts reuse.  He's dirty, ragged, and scarred appropriately.  His six-shooter and sawed-off shotgun can be holstered and unholstered with ease.  He's a great looking figure, but an odd fit for a mass-market superhero line.  We're lucky to have him, and have him done so well.

The other cowboy in my collection is even older, in toy and character chronology.  Carter Slade was the original, cowboy Ghost Rider (later know as the Phantom Rider.)  He was briefly featured in the awful Ghost Rider movie (played by the awesome Sam Elliot), and was the star figure of the Toy Biz Ghost Rider figure line.  In fact, he's the only figure I bought from that line.  Seriously...a skeleton cowboy!  With guns and fire!  How could anyone not get excited about that?!  Well, his missile-launching,  skele-shotgun was lame and has been ditched for one of Bishop's, but the figure itself is bad ass.  To top it all off, his hat is removable and he features a hinged jaw for maximum creepiness.  It's a shame that Toy Biz didn't make an equally awesome skeleton horse for him.  Oh well...you could track down one of their Lord of the Rings dark rider horses.  For these pics, I used the horse from the deluxe Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman set (McFarlane Toys.)

If you can track these two down on Ebay, they come highly recommended.  Even if the cowboy thing isn't your bag, every superhero line needs an odd duck in the lineup.  Until a better figure offering comes around, you can find me immersed in Red Dead Redemption II.  Adios and happy trails!
